Connect With Us

About Us Photo.jpg

We are the Robertson family and are the friendly faces behind Southern Porch Homestead. We are a small family of 4 running our homestead on our 3 acres in Churchville, Virginia. As first generation homesteaders, our homestead journey started out as a way to feed our family, learn new skills, and teach our homeschooled kids more about where their food comes from and the importance of knowing more about what you put in and on your body. We try to live sustainably and naturally when budget and practicality allows. We prefer to avoid chemicals, genetically modified products and artificial ingredients, and try to live with purpose and faith in mind. We love our connection to our small community and other local business owners.

Thank you to our entire community (both locally and virtually) for your continued support, cheerleading and guidance over the last several years. We look forward to continuing to grow and learn in the years ahead & sharing that journey with you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take special orders for your gluten-free or vegan baked goods?

At this time, we are not accepting special orders. As a small family-run homestead, we balance baking alongside full-time jobs, homeschooling, gardening, and daily farm life, so keeping a manageable menu helps us provide quality products consistently. All of our baked goods are always gluten-free, and we strive to use simple, wholesome ingredients — including homegrown, local, Non-GMO, and organic options whenever possible — with no corn syrup or artificial dyes.

Do you have an online store or ship any of your products?

At this time, we do not offer shipping. As our homestead business grows, we may explore shipping options in the future for select handmade products where it makes the most sense. We’re continuing to evaluate what we can realistically offer while still maintaining the quality and care we put into everything we make.

Do you offer farm tours or any farm experiences?

At this time, we do not offer farm visits or hands-on farm experiences, and this is not something we plan to offer in the future. However, there are several wonderful local farms in our area that provide experiences such as pick-your-own events, animal interactions, horseback riding, and more, and we encourage you to support and explore those opportunities locally.

Do you sell any animals for breeding stock?

On occasion, we may offer select breeding stock for sale. When available, these are typically listed through platforms such as Facebook or Craigslist. Availability is limited and varies based on what we are raising and keeping for our own homestead program.

Are your products organic?

We are not certified organic and therefore cannot label our products as such under USDA regulations. However, we strive to farm and bake as close to organic practices as possible. Our garden and orchard are maintained without synthetic chemicals whenever possible, and when treatments are needed, we use organic-approved options.

We feed our animals with Non-GMO feed sourced locally from Sunrise Farms, and we choose organic and non-GMO seeds and plants whenever available. All of our baked goods are gluten-free, and we prioritize organic ingredients when we can, along with sourcing locally and supporting other small businesses in our community whenever possible.
